The intrinsically safe,digital flow ISX878 provides a low-cost,non-intrusive solution for liquid flow measurement in your hazardous locations. The digital flow ISX878 is able to achieve intrinsically safe ratings by significantly reducing the energy required to drive the ultrasonic sensor. Only through advances in ultrasonic sensors has it been possible to reduce the driving voltage by a factor of 10. The new ISXDR sensors are significantly more efficient than our previous piezoelectric models,which have led the market for the past 20 years. Lower cost of ownership,intrinsic safety reduces installation costs by eliminating the need for heavy-duty explosion-proof junction boxes and conduits. The reduction in power consumption also enables the Digital Streamer ISX878 to become a loop-powered device,thus saving installation costs. This becomes even more important in hazardous locations where the cost of power cables to run AC or DC installations is much higher. The Digital Streaming ISX878 uses a pair of available instrumentation cables,fed through a safety barrier,to power the unit. Because the meter snaps onto the outside of the pipe,there is no need to shut down the line to install or service the meter. The rugged electronics and sensors have no moving parts that can be damaged or worn out,so annual maintenance can be greatly reduced,if not eliminated entirely.,dual-path model,an optional second channel provides the ability to obtain a dual-path average of the flow measurement at a single point for improved accuracy.,using time-of-flight flow measurement technology,Correlated Time-of-Flight™ technology uses a pair of sensors that each send and receive encoded ultrasonic signals through the fluid. When a fluid flows,the signal travels for a shorter time in the downstream direction than in the upstream direction; the difference between these travel times is proportional to the flow rate. The digital flow ISX878 measures transit time and uses programmed pipe parameters to determine flow and direction.
