These incremental shaft encoders are used in conjunction with DC motors to indicate and control shaft speed and direction of rotation as well as positioning. The LED light source and lens system transmit collimated light through a low-inertia metal disk,providing two channels with a phase offset of 90°. A single 5-volt power supply and two or three channels of digital output signals are connected to a 5-pin connector. Motors with ball bearings are recommended for continuous operation at low and high speeds and for elevated radial shaft loads.
