The full name of SBR is Safety Belt Reminder,which is the seat belt reminder device. This device is usually installed between the foam and the skin of the passenger seat or between the foam and the frame. Its function is to sound an alarm when an occupant is but not wearing a seat belt to remind the passenger to fasten the seat belt.

Its approximate mechanism is as shown below. When someone sits on the passenger seat,the pressure signal will be transmitted to the SBR control unit. At this time,if the passenger does not buckle the seat belt,the signal from the seat belt sensor will be transmitted to the SBR control unit at the same time. As a result,some automotive products will flash the safety indicator light and sound an alarm immediately,and some automotive products will sound an alarm after the car reaches a certain driving speed.

Careful friends must have a question. Since the co-driver needs to install this part,does the main driver's seat also need it? We know that when the car starts,generally there must be someone sitting in the main driver's seat,so there is no need to use pressure sensing to determine whether there is someone in the main driver's seat. When the seat belt is not inserted,an alarm signal is directly sent out. The main driver of many products There is no need to install SBR sensors in the seats. Therefore,in the process of developing seat products,SBR is also called an occupancy sensor or a pressure sensor.

How SBR pressure sensing works

There are two common principles of pressure sensing,as follows. The switches in these two circuits represent the pressure points of the SBR.

1. It works by conducting and disconnecting when power is on:

When enough pressure acts on the pressure point,the corresponding switch will be closed. When one or more switches on the left and right ends are closed,energizing the circuit can make it conductive. At this time,the pressure sensor sends a signal.

2. It works through the overall resistance when power is applied:

When enough pressure acts on the pressure point,the corresponding switch will be closed. When one or more switches at each end of the left and right ends are closed,the upper circuit (the wire has some resistance) is connected in parallel with the large resistance below,making the circuit as a whole The resistance is greatly reduced,and the pressure sensor sends a signal at this time.
