LI-COR Biosciences LI-190 Solar Radiation Instrument

Using the LI-190 Quantum Sensor,precise measurements can be obtained in all natural and artificial lighting conditions thanks to the computer-tailored spectral response. Colored glass filters are used to tune the response of the silicon photodiode to the desired quantum response. The interference filter provides a fast cutoff of 700 nanometers,which is critical for measurements under vegetation where the ratio of infrared to visible light can be high. A small response in the infrared region can cause significant measurement errors. This sensor,pioneered by LI-COR from earlier work (1),has become the standard measurement for most photosynthesis-related PPFD studies.,LI-190 is also used as a reference sensor for ocean,lake and marine sciences compared to the underwater PAR LI-192 quantum sensor for underwater measurements and the LI-193 spherical quantum sensor for underwater measurements.
