Gage pressure is measured relative to ambient atmospheric pressure. Therefore,changes in atmospheric pressure due to weather conditions or altitude directly affect the output of the gauge pressure sensor. Gauge pressure above ambient pressure is called barotropic pressure. If the measured pressure is lower than atmospheric pressure,it is called negative gauge pressure or vacuum gauge pressure. Although most gauge pressure sensors are technically differential pressure sensors that measure the difference between and atmospheric pressure,a true differential pressure sensor is used to identify the difference between two separate physical areas. The PCE-P15 has two pressure ports and a differential pressure function for measuring true differential pressure.
