Compact,reliable and cost-effective . The SHM 30 snow depth sensor reliably determines snow depth up to 10 meters with millimeter accuracy within seconds. Based on an optoelectronic distance sensor that emits a visible eye-safe laser (laser rangefinder),the SHM 30 allows detection distances up to 30 meters for detecting surface levels. Unlike snow depth sensors that use ultrasonic methods,laser ranging technology is independent of temperature changes. Even if the measurement process is affected by precipitation,the SHM 30 reliably detects snow surfaces due to its operating mode. Further evaluation of transmitted signal strength can differentiate between snow and grass.
