Damp or humid gases present a measurement challenge to all gas flow meter technologies. In many applications,it is the condensation droplets that affect flow meter accuracy and repeatability,rather than entrained moisture. While best engineering practices recommend using gas dryers,separator tanks,or thermally packed pipes to remove moisture from gases,these methods are not always possible or only partially effective. Moisture and condensation droplets can occur in the form of vapor streams moving with the air flow,or in the form of rain in an open vertical chimney,in which case the rain moves in the opposite direction to the air flow. Wet gas applications are typically found in biogas recovery (sewage treatment plant digesters,landfill gas,biogas production systems) and reactors,while raindrops are found in open vertical stacks and flues in power plants,oil and gas operations,chemical industries Commonly found in factories and refineries. Over the years,FCI's constant power technology has proven to be the thermal mass flow meter solution of choice for gas flow measurement in wet gases. Now,FCI's new,innovative moisture sensor provides accurate,repeatable gas flow measurements in the presence of more moisture and condensation droplets. This new WG sensor is available as model ST80 for use in entrained moisture and rain shielding applications.
