This device is a rugged incremental encoder that converts shaft rotation into a sequence of current-decayed pulses.,internally,a separate L.E.D. light source and a photoelectric sensor,along with a durable metal-etched encoder disk mounted on the shaft,provide 50 KHz signal accuracy and reliability. DC input power requirements are versatile +8 to +28 VDC with reverse polarity protection. The NPN open collector transistor output current is limited to 40 mA and is compatible with most RLC counters,rate indicators,controllers and accessories. All units are enclosed in a rugged cast aluminum housing with a sealed rear aluminum cover. Heavy duty 3/8 (9.53 mm) diameter stainless steel shaft and sealed,lifetime lubricated precision ball bearings are preloaded for minimal end play and rated for continuous use up to 6000 rpm. It is designed to meet NEMA 13/IP54 environmental requirements. All units come with 10 feet (3 meters) of PVC-jacketed 4-wire,22 AWG cable with twisted shield wire and 100% foil shielding. The ZCH can be directly connected to the crankshaft through flexible bellows,springs or rubber sleeve connectors,allowing axial and radial misalignment. They can also interface with instrument belts and pulleys or gears. The enclosure accepts four 8-32 threaded holes for surface rigid mounting. The four-wire shielded cable is led out via a cable connector.
