In 1952, APEM was founded in Montpezat (Toulouse), Quercy, France and began manufacturing industrial switches.

In 1976, APEM began to implement its international development strategy and successfully established four branches in Europe.

In 1984, in order to further expand its product range, APEM opened a new factory to produce customized control panels.

In 1991, in order to gain a foothold in the North American market, APEM acquired American Switch Corp. in Boston, USA, and established a subsidiary, APEM COMPONENTS Inc.

From 1998 to 2000, APEM successively acquired some companies with obvious commercial and technical advantages:

- Danish MEC, a manufacturer of high-performance PCB tact switches

In 2000, the Mexican branch APEM Mexico was officially established.

In 2002, the Italian branch APEM Italia was established to produce stainless steel keyboards.

In 2008, it acquired CH Products, a leading manufacturer of joysticks, trackballs and simulation control devices in the United States.
