Cantherm / Microtherm

Cantherm Serving the U.S., Canadian and Asian markets since 1978, it provides high-quality bimetal and thermal sensor products to leading companies. Its product applications include: transformer coils, motor protectors, small appliances, heaters (fans) or radiant), humidifiers, cars, ballasts, power supplies, etc.

Originally established and registered as Multi-State Devices Ltd. to design and market a unique type of NTC thermistor with avalanche properties, now known as Moxie, the company lacked the resources needed to thrive and was subsequently sold. Since its acquisition by Microtherm GmbH in 1978, the entire Microtherm thermostat product line has been adopted and promoted. After several years of distributing German-made Microtherm thermostats, CANTHERM now manufactures a variety of snap-acting, temperature-limited, bimetallic thermostats based on Microtherm designs for a variety of applications. Devices can be used for thermal protection of motors and transformers, medical equipment, temperature-sensitive electronics, power supplies, or anywhere heat may be generated.

Cantherm and Microtherm serve global markets with seven manufacturing facilities and more than 30 sales offices worldwide. As global free trade approaches, we are preparing products that can be accepted anywhere in the world. We currently hold institutional approvals from UL, CSA, VDE, BEAB and several other agencies for all our products under the name Microtherm GmbH and also hold CB certificates in compliance with IEC requirements and EN 60730 specifications. All Microtherm companies are ISO 9001 certified.

Cantherm is a self-sufficient, privately owned profit center that is part of the Microtherm Group and manufactures MIC products using the same German-made components that are distributed to all our facilities. Thanks to this close link, we have access to a group-wide manufacturing capacity of over 100 million pieces per year. If any customer's requirements exceed our capabilities, we will be able to draw on the extensive resources within the group and over 50 years of experience to provide assistance in areas such as engineering and design, sub-assembly or finished product manufacturing, testing and more.
