USA Kurz Instruments, Inc. has a long-standing reputation for the design and manufacture of thermal mass flow transmitters for industrial gas flow measurement.

Our engineers, product development experts and management develop flow metering products that perform in the harshest environments. For 40 years, our team has successfully provided solutions for our customers' most demanding and difficult applications.

Kurz products are used in a wide variety of industrial applications including combustion air, aeration airflow, biogas, nuclear power plants, flare stack monitoring and compressed air.

Early years

Dr. Jerome Kurtz

In the 1960s, Dr. Jerome Kurz revolutionized airflow measurement by developing a series of durable, compact, and highly accurate thermal anemometer sensors that measure airflow electronically. Starting from his early product development roots, Dr. Kurz founded Kurz Instruments, Inc. in 1976. Dr. Kurz founded the company to combine his engineering skills with technology to create products that would benefit the environment and solve some of the extreme measurement and monitoring challenges facing the industry. The company has grown from manufacturing portable instruments to more rugged industrial equipment used in some of the harshest air and gas flow environments.

The core of the company's products is its rugged solid-state speed sensor, which is based on the cooling effect of moving gas on a heated sensor element. Kurz is the recognized leader in thermal convection mass flow meters.

second generation

Daniel Kurz is the CEO of Kurz Instruments. Prior to that, he spent 13 years at Kurz Instruments as operations manager, general manager and president. Prior to joining Kurz Instruments, Daniel was an R&D engineer developing implants/delivery systems for the treatment of hemorrhagic stroke and diagnostic instruments for early detection of breast cancer.

Daniel continues his father's leadership and innovative spirit, developing technology focused on the advancement of thermal mass flow technology.
