TinyCircuits was originally founded in 2011 by Ken Burns as AkroSense LLC to develop cheap, smart, easy-to-use small sensors.During the development of the initial sensor prototype, TinyCircuits realized the need to use a host processor platform and Arduino was the perfect choice.After showing the prototype to our friends at TinyCircuits, TinyCircuits began to shift its focus to building the TinyDuino platform, providing manufacturers with a core set of building blocks for making beautiful things.TinyCircuits is headquartered in a 100-year-old former rubber factory in Akron, Ohio.TinyCircuits is proud to manufacture its products in the USA and has a complete surface mount electronics (SMT) production line..


October 2011: TinyCircuits is officially registered in Ohio as AkroSense LLC..

November 2011: TinyDuino concept demonstrated at first meeting of Akron MakerSpace SYNHAK..

November 2012 - December 2012: SMT production machinery arrives in Akron, office expands to 3,000 square feet, first production for TinyDuino..

June 2013: TinyCircuits online store officially opened..

January 2014: Microcenter becomes TinyCircuits’ first retail partner to sell TinyCircuits in retail locations..

July 2014: New website launched, early TinyScreen prototype created..

May 2015: The initial Tiny Arcade prototype was demonstrated at the Maker Faire Bay Area to an overwhelming response..

April 2016: TinyScreen+ second-generation processor released..

June 2017: The team travels to the Bay Area Maker Expo and releases TinySaber..

July 2017: Mouser Electronics and TinyCircuits enter into global distribution agreement..

August 2017: Digi-Key offers TinyCircuits electronics products worldwide..

September 2019: Whiskers platform launched on Kickstarter..
