JBL Professional,the 2447J features a ferrite (ceramic) magnet construction. The Model 2447J is a 38mm (1?) outlet diameter addition to JBL’s line of professional-quality compression drivers. The 38mm outlet allows the coherent wave phase plug to be coupled directly to the optimized aperture dual radial horn,providing lower distortion and better 20 kHz coverage control than previous designs. In addition to improving performance,the 38mm design also reduces size and weight. The Coherent Wave? Phase-shifted plug construction has four channels of equal length,providing in-phase summation of the diaphragm outputs at the 38mm outlet. This optimized configuration produces coherent acoustic power up to higher frequencies than conventional designs. The diaphragm design includes JBL’s exclusive three-dimensional diamond pattern surround to reduce fatigue-induced stress in the membrane and support structure. This provides a predictable normal resonance mode and the radial stiffeners increase the diaphragm stiffness. This diaphragm design,combined with a coherent wave phase plug,increases the 2447's output from 5kHz to 20kHz.
