company's history

In 1967, John Bogosian founded Visual Sound Inc. as the professional audiovisual division of Camera Store Company, one of the three largest photo retail chains in the United States. Camera Shop, Inc.'s strength in the photo retail market initially helped Visual Sound become a major player in the audiovisual rental and sales industry. Over the years, Visual Sound has earned widespread acclaim in the audiovisual industry as a turnkey provider of audiovisual solutions to the educational, commercial, government and religious markets.

Visual Sound is a highly respected company with a strong reputation for designing and building bespoke audiovisual solutions. Visual Sound, Inc. is headquartered in Broome, Pennsylvania, with satellite offices in Baltimore, Harrisburg, Philadelphia and the greater Los Angeles area.

As the nation's leading provider of audiovisual solutions, Visual Sound, Inc. is comprised of a team of experts in presentation AV, sound reinforcement, broadcast video, video conferencing and network systems. In-house design, engineering, sales, procurement, project management and installation teams deliver the services needed to consistently complete projects on time, perform with excellence, and maintain on-site service contracts to ensure systems are maintained and operating to their full potential.

Visual Sound, Inc. also has experience in event planning and video production, a by-product of the audiovisual rental business. Visual Sound, Inc.'s creative services division specializes in specialized event staging, lighting, sound and all aspects of special events, presentations and audiovisual services. Visual Sound has been the in-house AV provider for the Philadelphia Convention Center for 15 years.

In 2001, Visual Sound, Inc. acquired the audiovisual products and systems division of Peirce Phelps, a company with 35 years in the audiovisual and broadcast industries. The acquisition solidifies Visual Sound, Inc.'s position as one of the largest audiovisual solutions providers in the mid-Atlantic region. This acquisition allows Visual Sound, Inc. to expand its technical capabilities and expertise within its engineering and services teams. In October 2009, Visual Sound acquired Baltimore, Maryland-based Kunz AV to expand sales in Maryland, Virginia, DC and West Virginia. In 2020, Visual Sound acquired Southern California AV company Sybatech to further support their West Coast customers and operations.
