Solid State 3-Axis Pitch,Roll and Yaw Sensor,Overview,The 3DM® Orientation Sensor is designed to provide 3-axis static and quasi-dynamic orientation measurements. It includes 3 accelerometers and 3 magnetometers,as well as an on-board microprocessor,embedded software algorithms,non-volatile memory for configuration and serial communication interface. Its form factor,rated temperature range and power requirements are optimized for a wide range of applications. 3DM® outputs acceleration vectors,magnetic field vectors,Euler angles (pitch,roll,yaw) and direction matrices.,the 3DM® Orientation Sensor was originally sold as a starter kit with an orientation module,RS-232 communications and power cords,universal wall transformer power supply,software CD,user manual and quick start,the 3DM® Orientation Sensor is factory calibrated and ready for use when powered. 3DM® comes with easy-to-use Microsoft Windows software that allows users to initialize,configure and operate the instrument,view real-time measurement results graphically,and write data to files for post-processing. For those users,integrators or OEMs developing their own applications,3DM® comes with a complete data communications protocol,providing developers with a complete instrument command set. Applications of your own design can be easily developed in any coding and on any computing platform,inc microprocessors.,when outputting the orientation matrix,3DM® provides 360° measurements about all 3 axes. When outputting Euler angles,3DM® can measure +\/-180° yaw (heading),+\/-180° roll and +\/-70° pitch. 3DM® can work in polling mode (it outputs one directed packet upon each host request) or continuous mode (it outputs one directed packet after another without request) to the host. The 3DM® requires +5.2 to +12.0 Volts DC to operate and can be powered by a wall transformer,battery,or any other capable power source. The housing provides 2-hole mounting bosses.
