The AS5030 is an 8-bit rotary position sensor (formerly known as an encoder) for absolute measurement throughout 360°,based on non-contact magnetic sensor technology. This device is ideal for on-axis applications where a simple 2-pole magnet is rotated above or below the sensor IC and the zero position can be programmed into the device. The absolute magnet angular position is measured with a resolution of 8 bits per revolution = 256 positions and is provided as a digital value on the serial interface (SSI) and on the PWM output signal.
