Earth magnetometers are used to map the Earth's magnetic field.It shows changes from one place to another with a resolution of 0.01 milligauss (=1 nanometer esla,or 1 gamma),which is about 1/500% of the strength of the Earth's magnetic field.Because the Earth's magnetic field typically fluctuates 3-30 nanometersla per hour,there won't be much additional benefit in resolutions higher than 1 nanometer esla.Until now,a resolution of 1 nanometer esla or 0.01 milligauss has only been achieved using very expensive,bulky and high power consumption magnetometers such as proton,cantilever and cesium type magnetometers..
