MEMS capacitive technology

The key component of the capacitive acceleration sensor is a high-quality microelectromechanical system (MEMS) with good long-term stability and reliability. This proven technology can be used to measure static (DC) and constant as well as dynamic (AC) acceleration. Other advantages of accelerometers based on the capacitive operating principle include excellent temperature stability, good response properties and achievable resolution.

Description

The seismic sensors of the ASC EQ series and ASC QF series have Ultra-low noise levels enable resolution of less than 1 μg. Therefore, they meet the requirements of seismic measurement motion category B. Integrated electronics help ensure differential analog voltage output (±2.7 V FSO) and flexible supply voltage (5-40 VDC), while built-in self-test options and temperature outputs are also provided.

ASC EQ-x211 Series sensors have a lightweight aluminum housing and ASC EQ-x215 Series sensors have a robust stainless steel housing, both are IP65 rated and have detachable cables and configuration lengths and connectors. Accelerometers are available in single-, dual- and tri-axial configurations.

ASC QF-1211 Series sensors feature lightweight aluminum housing with IP67 protection, integrated cables and configured lengths and connectors. The acceleration sensor has a single-axis configuration.

Application

ASC EQ series acceleration sensors are suitable for monitoring critical safety components of buildings. This is especially true for power plants or tunnels whose structures are affected by tectonic movements. Because a basic requirement for such applications is a seismic sensor that can reliably detect the smallest vibration amplitudes.

The flat and compact design of the ASC QF Series facilitates quick installation, an essential requirement for reference measurements in many applications. Due to their excellent resistance to vibration and shock, this series of sensors is also suitable for drilling tools such as MWD (measurement while drilling) systems.
