The KF940 portable speaker-loaded subwoofer system—also known as a super sub—creates a new level of bass performance by loading two specially designed 12-in. The throat of this horn expands exponentially and is over 13 feet long. A great deal of effort went into creating a woofer cone that could withstand the stress of such a large speaker. As an impedance matching device - the speaker brings a sensitivity of 1 watt 1 meter to the system at 100 Hz to 113 dB SPL. The KF940 speaker uses a construction technique that allows us to create speakers with the necessary complex expansion rates. The intricate flares are made from 3mm birch plywood and fit into slots cut by our CNC router. Behind the birch plywood is a proprietary anti-resonance high-damping polyurethane foam material that makes the horn acoustically opaque.
