P\/N 10014-001,EX-5100 Combustible Gas Sensor\/Emitter 0-100% LEL\ N The EX-5100 contains a pellistor or catalytic bead sensor. The sensor consists of a pair of matched elements,one active and the other compensated. The active beads are coated with a catalyst that,when in contact with flammable hydrocarbons or solvents,causes the gas or vapor to burn or oxidize at concentrations below the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL). This oxidation process raises the temperature of the active beads,increasing the resistance of the internal coil. The second type of beads has no catalytic coating and can compensate for environmental conditions inc temperature and humidity. When these components are connected in a Wheatstone bridge circuit,a usable signal is produced that is proportional to the gas concentration. The transmitter is powered by 24vdc,provides 4-20ma output signal,and can be connected to a controller,PLC or similar instrument. Standard Calibration Coefficient Standard EX-5100 is calibrated to 0-100% LEL methane. Therefore,we consider the coefficient or relative response of methane to be (1.00)1. Calibration coefficients relative to methane were produced for over 30 different flammable hydrocarbons and solvents. A partial list of these gases and vapors includes the following: propane,ethylene,methanol,xylene,n-hexane,pentane,ethanol,ethyl acetate,butane,ethane,isopropyl alcohol,MEK,hydrogen,acetone,toluene,etc. With more than 30 coefficients,ENMET generate calibration data for the most common combustible gases and vapors samples that are readily available. \nFunction
