The PT-100 Platinum Resistance Thermometer (PRT) is an excellent choice for use as a cryogenic temperature sensing and control element in the range of 30 K to 873 K (-243°C to 600°C). Within this temperature range,prt has high repeatability and nearly constant sensitivity (dR\/dT). Platinum resistors can also be used as control elements in magnetic field environments where errors close to one degree are tolerated. PRT is interchangeable above 70 K. Using controlled-purity platinum ensures consistency from device to device,and the sensitivity of PRT decreases rapidly below about 30 K. They should be calibrated for maximum accuracy when used below 100 K. This graph illustrates the platinum sensor's conformance to the IEC 751 curve.
