Advancing science – our focus
Reliable measurements that drive scientific breakthroughs
We are proud to provide the sensors, instruments and systems that power some of the most powerful and groundbreaking science today. Lake Shore equipment has been a key part of many scientific discoveries and advancements over the years. From particle physics exploration at the CERN LHC accelerator to cold fusion experiments at national laboratories, our sensors, instruments and systems are used in the pursuit of science that has the potential to change lives.
Muon g-2 at Fermilab
This is just one of many large-scale physics experiments using Lake Shore thermometry technology around the world. Diode sensors are used to monitor cryogenic temperatures in a 52-foot-wide superconducting particle storage ring, and Series 240 input modules convert analog temperature signals into digital signals that are transmitted directly to the facility's PLC.
Push testing
Quality-controlled reliability testing
Quality control is key to a manufacturer's customer satisfaction and profits. Lake Shore's fast, sensitive, calibrated instruments and sensors improve the accuracy of many QC measurements. Our portable and fixed configurations allow for in-line product testing, plus our knowledgeable technical staff assist with integrating our products into existing processes and help users understand their test results.
Arnold Magnetic Technologies
Arnold is a leader in permanent magnets and assemblies, using Lake Shore flux meters and Helmholtz coils to ensure manufacturing consistency, as well as our Gaussmeters and Hall probes (single and 3-axis) for testing e.g. subsea Demanding finished components such as oil valves and high-performance motors.
Promote aerospace
Reliable performance under extreme conditions
Many of our sensors are designed to withstand radiation and severe vibration during space launches and will operate continuously for years. Lake Shore has more than 20 years of experience supporting mission-critical applications. Our highly reliable flight-qualified sensors provide precise measurements for satellite airborne systems and ground testing.
James Webb Space Telescope
NASA's James Webb Space Telescope uses hundreds of Lake Shore's flight-grade sensors. Other NASA programs and national laboratories also rely on the Lake Shore family of sensors and instruments to perform their critical programs.
