Soundcraft seems to be launching a steady stream of new products this year,the latest of which is the GB4 console,which features the GB30 mic preamp and EQ designed by Graham Blyth for the company's 30th anniversary in 2009. The new desk features Soundcraft's hallmarks of quality,engineering and design you'd expect from this high-end manufacturer. Careful attention has been paid to the mechanical construction to ensure reliability in tough conditions,and all input modules feature individual vertically mounted PCB’s mounted via individual nut-mounted potentiometers to the steel chassis front panel.,the GB range also features the MH4,MH3 and LX7ii consoles,continuing the strong family look and feel across the range. Available in frame sizes from 16 to 40 channels,the GB4 is designed for use in installations such as churches and performance venues,or for use in small touring sound systems. The dual-mode topology successfully implemented on the MH3 and MH4 desks allows the GB4 to be used for FOH or monitor duties with fader control of group or aux outputs. Although its layout is largely conventional,the GB4 does have some unique mechanical features. The sturdy steel chassis has a sloping rear connector panel for easier configuration from the front of the desk,while the integrated power supply has connection options for an external backup PSU.,four mute groups allow multiple channels to be muted simultaneously,and another unique feature is the limiter set on a dedicated set of recording outputs,which makes it easier to create stereo recordings of your mixes.,the console also features an output matrix with seven inputs to four outputs,fed from the group bus and main L,R and C (mono) outputs.,GB4 offers a comprehensive set of features and facilities in a small footprint,low cost,and delivers the high performance and reliability you've come to expect from Soundcraft products.
