Sensor-e®CO2 measures carbon dioxide by comparing the infrared energy absorbed by the sample to the infrared energy absorbed by a reference gas according to Beer-Lambert's law. This consists of a gas filter wheel that alternately allows a high-energy infrared light source to pass through a chamber filled with carbon dioxide and a chamber without carbon dioxide,and then the light passes through the sampling chamber,which has a folded path. Energy loss through the sample cell is compared to a zero reference signal provided by the gas filter to produce an output proportional to concentration,with little effect from gas interference in the sample.
