HOFFER FLOW CONTROLS was established in 1969 in New Jersey, USA. Hoffer Flow Controls has been designing and manufacturing quality turbine flow meters and related process instrumentation for more than fifty years. Our first experience is in the field of cryogenic flow measurement. Today, our reputation in this field is synonymous with quality.

The development of the modern turbine flowmeter can be traced back to David Porter, founder of Porter Aviation. Porter pioneered the development of turbine flow meters for the Navy in the 1940s. The original application for the Potter turbine flow meter was in fuel flow measurement on naval aircraft. Today, fuel flow remains an ideal application for turbine flow meters.

Throughout the 1950s and early 1960s, business was booming for Union Porter Airlines in New Jersey. Potter holds an exclusive patent on turbine flow meter design. Potter Aeronautical began licensing turbine flowmeters to other companies nationally and internationally.

When Porter Air closed in 1968, its production manager was a young engineer named Ken Hoffer. Ken then founded his own turbine flow meter company...Hoffer Flow Controls.

For its first ten years in business, Hoffer Flow Controls focused on cryogenic flow measurement systems. Hoffer pioneered the use of turbine flow meters in cryogenic technology.

In the late 1970s we began to diversify into other markets, including oilfield, chemical, petrochemical, aerospace and energy measurement. We have introduced our products into the European Common Market, Central and South America and the Far East.

Today, Hoffer Flow Controls manufactures high-precision turbine flow meters for use not only in the cryogenic industry, but also in the measurement of clean liquids and gases throughout the process industry.
